Duratray Customer Care Information

Thank you for purchasing a Duratray quality tray body & accessories. At Duratray we are very passionate about giving you, our customer, genuine value and outstanding after sales service.

Tips to get the best from your product:

Knowing your vehicle

The carrying capacity details of your vehicle are available from the manufacturer and must be observed at all times and not be exceeded, including axle weight load capacity. Vehicles fitted with Duratray tray bodies, service bodies and other accessories may be driven up to the designated state speed limits, providing that the driver is aware of the importance of driving slower for some conditions that may exist including:

  • Variations in road surfaces, weather conditions, steep gradients, narrow roads, etc.
  • Presence of high winds or cross winds.
  • Loaded vehicles require longer stopping distances.
  • Roof mounted and high loads which can be top heavy having a high centre of gravity.
  • Reverse camera and sensors may be required if rear vision is inadequate.

Product Assembly & Installation

For ease of tray installation if required, please peruse Duratray tray & accessory assembly sheets provided with goods for installation procedure. If in doubt, contact Duratray Customer Care for further advice on Phone (07) 3899 7000.

Load Distribution

Position your load so it is carried safely including:

  • Keep load weight evenly distributed and as low as possible on the vehicle.
  • Keep load as far forward towards the headboard for even axle loading.
  • Drive with caution when carrying bulky or wind resisting loads on roof racks.

Load Restraint

Load restraint is extremely important for safety of others. This would include:

  • All items loaded in the tray area must be securely restrained.
  • Some loads may require a load covering net or tarpaulin to adequately secure and restrain the load.
  • All items mounted on roof racks must be evenly loaded and securely restrained.
  • See QLD Government website for transporting and projecting load guidelines.

Operation Notes

Always take care when working around your tray body accessories, and other equipment to ensure your safety and the safety of others, including:

  • Beware of pinch points with the dropsides and toolbox lids, sliding drawers and gates when closing.
  • Beware of pinch points with some equipment such as tail gate loaders, tipper bodies, slide out steps, cranes & hoists when operating them.
  • All equipment and drop sides, sliding steps, doors must be closed to their rest position, latched and firmly secured prior to driving the vehicle.
  • Rear ladder rack locking bolts must be checked and tight before operation.
  • Ensure side steps are not slippery if using to mount/enter the tray body.
  • Take care when opening vehicle doors after travelling as contents of tray may have moved.

Maintenance and safety checks
The following items should be checked after the first month, and yearly thereafter. Regular 12 Monthly maintenance is recommended and will ensure your Tray Body and accessories will remain in top condition and serve you well for many years to come. For peace of mind, Duratray offer a complimentary 12-month maintenance check, bookings essential:

  • Tray mounts/fixings to vehicle chassis are tight.
  • All mounting/fixing points to accessories, mudguards and equipment on the tray are tight.
  • Check that fuel filler assembly is firmly fixed and free of fuel leaks.
  • Check fasteners to tail light protection and side steps are tight.
  • Check rear rack mounting bolts are secure and tight.
  • Rear rack locking bolts must be tightened regularly so rear rack is always tight and secure prior to driving the vehicle.
  • Check all hardware, hinges, locks and mechanical items for adjustment or damage.
  • Check all electrical components, wiring and lighting for function and damage.
  • Check and lubricate all hinges, locks, slides and any grease points on tray body and equipment regularly.
  • Adjust drop side over centre catches to eliminate rattles.
  • Ensure toolbox gas struts are functioning correctly with no oil or gas leaks.
  • If a timber floor is fitted to your tray, it should be re-oiled with Linseed oil every 3 months to preserve timber and maintain it in good condition.
  • When your vehicle is serviced at the dealership ask them to check and service your tray body and accessories/equipment at the same time.

Cleaning and Caring for your Duratray
Regular
washing and cleaning your tray body is advised to minimise weather and road grime build up and is the same procedure and products as for cleaning your vehicle’s paintwork. Refer to your vehicle manufacturers cleaning instructions.

We recommend a PH Neutral Shampoo - N.B. Do not use aluminum cleaner, acids, or other chemicals as this will remove the surface finish and cause corrosion and/or tarnishing of the material. This will not be covered under warranty.

Warranty

Once registered, your Duratray tray bodies are covered by a 5-year warranty. Duratray warrants to the owner that during the warranty period, at its option, repair, replace or adjust free of charge any part of the tray body which it finds to be defective in materials or workmanship under normal use and operation at Duratray’s premises or an approved Duratray repair facility provided that:

  • The tray body has not become defective due to accident or malicious damage, use of improper cleaning products or exposure to corrosive substances or chemicals, including salt water.
  • The tray body has been properly and regularly maintained as outlined in the Maintenance and safety check section above.
