History

Duratray Transport Equipment was established in 1989, with the vision to fill a void in the market of quality tray bodies along with establishing a family business.

The business began in a small shed on an acreage property in Carina Qld, servicing the local car dealers and retail clients.

Strong growth in the early 1990’s meant that the company soon outgrew this workshop, and in 1991 moved to a larger premises in Coorparoo.

With the introduction of steel trays and truck bodies, along with continued growth, by the mid 1990’s Duratray had well outgrown this factory and it was time to move again. A factory was built in the new industrial estate at Morningside Qld to allow for room to move and future expansion.

In the mid 2000’s, the decision was made to separate the truck and ute body parts of the business, and Duralloy Truck Bodies was established to expand into the larger sector of the industry. By relocating the truck body manufacture to Narangba on Brisbane’s north, it allowed both businesses to further expand and focus on the different industry segments.

In 2012, Duratray with now predominately the ute body market, had again outgrown their premises and it was time to relocate once more.

The large Capalaba facility was secured, giving more than double the workshop and office space plus triple the property size. These premises have been customised to suit Duratray’s exact needs, with separate manufacturing and installation buildings plus extensive office space and vehicle storage facilities.

This ensures we have the facilities to handle all of our customers’ requirements from retail single purchases right through to large national and fleet customers.
